Julia Coronado, President and Founder
Julia Coronado founded MPP because she believes independent research can provide the most objective and relevant analysis to inform decision making in an uncertain world. Julia is a Clinical Associate Professor of Finance at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. She has more than a decade of experience as a financial market economist including serving as Chief Economist for Graham Capital Management and BNP Paribas, and as a Senior Economist at Barclays Capital. After receiving her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, Julia worked for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington D.C. for eight years where she regularly briefed the Board and contributed to the FOMC forecasts. Julia has published a number of scholarly articles on issues related to pension finances and market valuations, social security, retirement saving adequacy and behavior, the frontier of private and public data collection, digital currency and monetary policy. Julia has represented the US at OECD meetings on financial market issues and has testified before the US Congress on Social Security reform and Central Bank Digital Currencies. She is a member of the Economic Advisory Panel of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Economic Studies Council at the Brookings Institution and is former President of the National Association of Business Economists. Julia is also on the Board of Directors of Robert Half International and Dynex Capital and serves on the Advisory Boards of the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Pension Research Council at the Wharton School and the Cleveland Fed’s Center for Inflation Research. Julia is a regular commentator in financial media, including CNBC, Bloomberg, Marketplace, and the Wall Street Journal.
Laura Rosner-Warburton, Senior Economist and Founding Partner
Laura Rosner-Warburton is a Senior Economist and Founding Partner at MPP specializing in the areas of monetary policy and inflation. She joined MPP from BNP Paribas where she served as senior U.S. economist for four years. She started her career in the financial services industry at the beginning of 2006 working as an economist for Barclays Capital where she first developed a niche in forecasting and researching inflation. Her work on inflation spans a range of economic and market environments and benefits from a blend of macro and micro perspectives. Prior to BNP Paribas, Laura worked in a policy analysis group in the Markets Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Her area of specialty was researching unconventional monetary policies, in particular their design, implementation and effects on financial markets. She also contributed to the development and design of the New York Fed’s Survey of Primary Dealers. Laura studied economics in the Ph.D. program at the University of Maryland, where her fields of concentration were macroeconomics and international finance. She received her undergraduate degree in economics with honors from Columbia University. Laura is a member of the National Association of Business Economists and a member of the Committee on National Statistics reviewing measurement issues in the Consumer Price Index program and providing guidance for its continued modernization.
Courtney Shupert, Economist
Courtney is an Economist at MPP. Her work focuses on high frequency data, micro analysis of the US economy and monetary policy. She brings a detailed, data-driven perspective to MPP and our clients. Prior to joining MPP, Courtney served as an Assistant Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. At the Fed, Courtney conducted regional economic research, prepared briefings, and authored Beige Book summaries. Her research included conducting regular surveys of businesses across the Tenth District and integrating anecdotal themes with quantitative results. Courtney also specializes in using big data to analyze labor market dynamics and shifts in commodities markets. Before joining the Fed, Courtney worked at a think tank in D.C., an energy company in Houston, and taught economics to student athletes in college. She completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Oklahoma where she earned a master’s degree in Economics with an emphasis in data analytics. Courtney is a member of the National Association of Business Economists.
Taria Bryant, Business Manager
Taria is the Business Manager at MPP, focusing on client needs and experience and ensuring company products and operations are efficient and competitive. She joins MPP with extensive experience in finance, management, strategic development and implementation, and tactical business leadership. Her professional experience includes work in higher education, real estate, and manufacturing. Taria completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at Indiana University-Bloomington where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Marketing & Management as well a Certificate in Business Foundations. With expansive interests and experience, she brings an inquisitive, results-oriented approach to the MPP team and our clients.
Constance L. Hunter, Senior Advisor
Constance Hunter joins MacroPolicy Perspectives as a Senior Advisor from AIG where she served as a member of AIG’s Executive Leadership team in her role as Executive Vice President, Head of Strategy and ESG. Constance is an expert in macroeconomic and industry analysis, with a track record of using data driven sectoral analysis to be ahead of the curve on pivotal economic events, including the impacts of COVID-19 on the U.S. and other global economies, the 2007 real estate and credit crisis, and the 2001 bust of the Dotcom bubble.
Constance is currently a board member on the National Bureau for Economic Research (NBER), a member of the Federal Economic Statistics Advisory Committee (FESAC), and she is a National Association for Business Economics (NABE) Fellow where she previously served as President. Prior to joining AIG, Constance was the Chief Economist for KPMG and a member of its Growth and Strategy leadership team. She previously served as Deputy Chief Investment Officer at AXA Investment Managers, where she helped lead the management of more than $500 billion in fixed income assets.
Constance earned a BA in Economics and Sociology from New York University, a master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and the Certified Business Economist designation from the National Association for Business Economics. She regularly shares her insights with major media outlets, including Bloomberg TV, CNBC, Fox Business, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.
Ellen Hughes-Cromwick, Senior Advisor
Ellen Hughes-Cromwick analyzes macroeconomic and financial market issues for MPP, including business cycle analysis and changes in financial market structure. She is currently also Interim Associate Director, Social Science and Policy at the University of Michigan Energy Institute (UMEI). Ellen recently served as Chief Economist of the U.S. Department of Commerce where she participated in initiatives to improve data quality and measure the digital economy, expand manufacturing, trade and investment, and supported the development of the Administration’s economic forecast. Prior to joining the U.S. Department of Commerce, Ellen spent 18 years at Ford Motor Company with the last ten as chief global economist. Ellen has also served as a senior economist at Mellon Bank, assistant professor of economics at Trinity College, and a staff economist on the President's Council of Economic Advisers. She received her Ph.D. in Economics and Master's degree in International Development from Clark University in Massachusetts and her Bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame.
Karen Dynan, Senior Advisor
Karen Dynan analyzes a range of macroeconomic issues for MPP including fiscal policy, the financial health of consumers, wage trends and housing. She is currently also a professor of economics at Harvard University and a nonresident senior fellow at the Peterson Institute. Karen was recently Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy and Chief Economist at the U.S. Department of the Treasury under the Obama Administration. Prior to joining Treasury, Karen was Vice President and Co-director of the Economic Studies program at the Brookings Institution. Before that, she served on the staff of the Federal Reserve Board for 17 years, playing a leadership role in macroeconomic forecasting, analysis of household finances, and the Fed’s response to the financial crisis. Karen has also served as a senior economist at the White House Council of Economic Advisers. She received her Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University and her A.B. from Brown University.
